The Imperial PTA is a group of volunteers who devote their time and energy to serving the needs of Imperial Elementary School. Below you will find a list of ways you can get involved. Some opportunities require only a couple of hours of your time and others require a bit more!
We challenge you to make a difference in 2022-2023!! After you've read through the descriptions, please take a minute to complete this Google Form letting us know how you will get involved next school year.
Executive Board
The Executive Board consists of President, 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, Treasurer, Parliamentarian, Secretary, Principal, and Teacher Liaison. Positions are for one school year, two years maximum. Follow the red links to learn even more about each position.
President
· Lead monthly PTA Association meetings
· Lead monthly PTA Executive Board meetings
· Write agendas for both meetings
· Attend monthly OUSD council meetings
· Serve as Historian
· Communicate with parents, principal, teachers, staff, and community
· Participate in committees and events
· Be comfortable posting on Facebook, Instagram, and our website or be willing to learn
1st Vice President (Fundraising)
· With a committee, plan and oversee the fall and spring fundraisers
· Arrange Eagle Eats
· Serve as Financial Secretary
· Attend monthly Association and Executive Board meetings and provide the fundraising report
· Be comfortable posting on Facebook, Instagram, and our website or be willing to learn
2nd Vice President (Programs)
· With a committee, plan and oversee programs for students
· Work with the Exec Board to develop the annual program calendar
· Serve as Volunteer Coordinator
· Attend monthly Association and Executive Board meetings and provide the Program report
· Be comfortable posting on Facebook, Instagram, and our website or be willing to learn
Treasurer · Work with the Exec Board to develop annual budget · Maintains records to track PTA financial transactions · Work closely with the Financial Secretary (1st Vice President) · Attend monthly Association and Executive Board meetings and provide financial reports · Be familiar with Quickbooks or be willing to learn. · Files taxes, reports, audit, and other forms as required by our bylaws, insurance, and federal laws
Secretary · Attend monthly Association and Executive Board meetings, takes minutes, and shares them at meetings. · Hospitality - Writes thank you cards, sends care packages as needed · Oversees Yearbook Committee
Parliamentarian · Become familiar with Imperial PTA and California PTA bylaws · Update bylaws if needed · Attend monthly Association and Executive Board meetings and assists with parliamentary procedure · Arranges nominating committee’s first meeting
Short-Term Committees
Short-Term Committees are just that... short term. Unlike the Executive Board, you are committing to help organize and run a single event or fundraiser.
Audit Committee
· Meets twice per year – approximately a 4-hour total commitment, reports to Treasurer
Fall Fundraiser Committee
· Meets a few times in Fall – approximately 10-hour total commitment depending on the fundraiser, reports to 1st Vice President
Fall Book Fair Committee
· Meets 1-2 times during in the Fall, plus during the Book Fair – approximately 3-hour total commitment, reports to 1st Vice President
Reflections Committee
· Meets a few times in the Fall – approximately 2-hour total commitment, except for Chairperson who needs to attend a training session, reports to President
Trunk or Treat Trunk Committee
· Meets 1-2 times in October plus the day of event – approximately 6-hour total commitment, reports to 2nd Vice President
Teacher Appreciation Committee
· Meets a few times during the year - approximately a 3–5-hour total commitment, reports to 2nd Vice President
Nominating Committee
· Meets 1-2 times in February - approximately a 2-hour total commitment, reports to Parliamentarian
Spring Fundraiser Committee
· Meets a few times in Spring – approximately 10-hour total commitment depending on the fundraiser, reports to 1st Vice President
Spring Book Fair Committee
· Meets 1-2 times during in the Spring, plus during the Book Fair – approximately 3-hour total commitment, reports to 1st Vice President
Spring Festival Committee
· Meets 1-2 times in Spring, plus the day of event – approximately 10-hour total commitment, reports to 2nd Vice President
Field Day Committee
· Meets 1-2 times in Spring, plus the day of event – approximately 10-hour total commitment, reports to 2nd Vice President
Yearbook Committee
· Meets as needed during the year – approximately 10-hour total commitment, reports to Secretary
Volunteer Opportunities
These opportunities have a very short time commitment, but are essential to the success of the event!
Welcome Back Volunteers
· Set up Welcome Back decorations the day before school begins – approximately 2 hours total commitment, reports to Secretary
Fall Book Fair Volunteers
· Volunteer as needed during the Fall Book Fair, reports to Book Fair Committee Chairperson
Room Parent Volunteers
· Needed various times throughout the year – approximately 10-hour commitment, reports to 2nd Vice President
Spirit Store Volunteers
· As needed to fulfill online spirit wear orders and to communicate Birthday Marquee purchases with the office, reports to Treasurer
Popsicle Cart Volunteers
· Approximately 1 hour on Tuesdays – sign up when able to help, reports to Treasurer
Trunk or Treat Trunk Hosts
· Meets the day of event – approximately 4-hour total commitment, reports to Trunk or Treat Committee Chairperson
Spring Festival Volunteers
· Meets the day of event – approximately 6-hour total commitment, reports to Spring Festival Committee Chairperson
Spring Book Fair Volunteers
· Volunteer as needed during the Spring Book Fair, reports to Book Fair Committee Chairperson
Event Photographers
· Needed at various events throughout the year – volunteer when able to help, reports to Yearbook Committee Chairperson
Field Day Volunteers
· Meets day of event – approximately 6-hour total commitment, reports to Field Day Committee Chairperson
